Frequently Asked Questions

How sourcing, payment, inspection and Kenya support work.

Who sells and exports the vehicle?

The vehicle sale, official quotation, contract and export process are handled by our Japanese exporting partner. Markato Autos Japan acts as your Japan-based premium auto export brand with Kenya-side support.

Where do I send payment?

Payment is made only by international bank transfer to the official Japanese exporter bank account stated on the exporter-issued invoice or contract. Markato Autos Japan does not ask customers to pay vehicle purchase funds to a personal account or mobile money number.

Can I pay by M-Pesa?

No. Vehicle-related payment is accepted only by international bank transfer to the official Japanese exporter bank account stated on the official invoice or contract.

Are the cars shown on the website already in stock?

The website shows models we can source from Japan. After you share your requirements, we send matching real vehicle options and photos privately, subject to availability.

Do I receive a QISJ inspection certificate before payment?

QISJ inspection is arranged before shipment after the selected vehicle is purchased. The official inspection document is provided after the vehicle successfully passes inspection.

Does the quoted price include Kenya import taxes and clearance?

No. Website enquiries and quotations focus on CFR Mombasa unless stated otherwise in writing. Kenya import taxes, clearance, registration and inland delivery are separate. Our sales team can guide you on the Kenya-side process. See the Import Cost Disclaimer.

Can I visit your Kenya team?

Our Kenya team works online-first. In-person meetings are available by appointment, location coordinated by our Kenya team. Please contact us before visiting.

Can I cancel after approving and purchasing the car?

Once you provide written approval and the exporter purchases the selected vehicle, the deposit becomes part of the vehicle payment and is non-refundable, according to the exporter’s written terms. See the Deposit & Refund Policy.

How can I verify the Japanese exporter?

The Japanese exporting partner is verifiable through the official JUMVEA member directory. Open the JUMVEA member directory and search for the exporter name shown on your official quotation or contract before any payment.

What documents do I receive during the import?

For the Japan side, the export package typically includes the Japanese export certificate, QISJ inspection document (after the vehicle passes inspection), bill of lading and commercial invoice. For Kenya-side clearance you will normally need your KRA PIN and ID, and the clearing process is handled separately with a licensed Kenya clearing agent.
